Their Dreams Matter
Dear Dreamers and Believers,
On a Tennessee night when dreams came true for 32 young men getting picked in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, a piece of our dreams came true. Many of these 32 dreams come from similar backgrounds and cities of the boys that participating in our youth impact programs. Three of the first-round draft class were in our YIP program and led, in academics, athletics, and leadership development of our young participating boys.
With the No. 10 pick, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Devin Bush Jr. from the University of Michigan.
With the No. 12 pick, the Green Bay Packers selected Rashan Gary from the University of Michigan.
With the No. 21 pick, the Green Bay Packers selected Darnell Savage, Jr. from the University of Maryland.
This marks 5 YIP student-athletes over the past three years that have been drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft with Jabrill Peppers and DJ Moore.
What is so exceptional about this is that these Dreams Came True, to those hundreds of young at-risk boys that this first-round pick was in their lives for sustained and persistent time to develop trust, respect and character, and love for each other and for the dream path they were on. It is validation, it is the inspiration that through discipline, institutions, character, and leadership – it works, it delivers and it makes a change.
Dreamers associate with Dreamers to make dreams come true.
Winners associate with Winners to Win.
Congratulations to these three special YIP first-round draft picks and the positive ramifications their success has had upon the young at-risk boys in the Youth Impact Program.
