Pacific Air Forces Deputy Commander Inspires Local Youth

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM– Hawaii —

Lt. Gen. Laura Lenderman, Pacific Air Forces deputy commander, met with local youth July 19 at the University of Hawaii at Manoa to engage with the community and inspire future generations.

Lenderman shared her “Triple L” values of Listen, Love, and Lift Up with approximately 65 girls from grades five to eight, who are enrolled in the Hawaii Girls Youth Impact Program. These principles, she explained, were the bedrock of her leadership journey.

“Listening with a full heart, loving my teammates and my organization, and lifting up those around me have made me a better leader, mentor, and friend,” Lenderman explained.

She further shared examples of how faith, personal courage, and discipline have helped her overcome academic and professional challenges throughout her high school, college, and Air Force career.

The Hawaii Girls Youth Impact Program centers around mentorship, emphasizing personal growth, STEM-based academics, trust exercises, and a variety of activities hosted by the UH Wahine Basketball team.

“The Hawaii YIP program empowers young girls by instilling confidence and authenticity. Witnessing a woman like General Lenderman, who holds a prominent position, inspires these girls,” Laura Beeman, Head Women’s Coach, UH at Manoa. “They’ll remember her and aspire to emulate her remarkable achievements. There’s nothing quite like seeing a woman accomplish great things and feeling motivated to follow in her footsteps.”
